CISR UGC NET DEC 2017: CSIR is going to conduct the Joint CSIR UGC National Eligibility Test in DEC 2017 , in order to provide the Junior Research Fellowship to all the qualified candidates. Here you can find all the important information regarding CSIR UGC NET DEC  2017 Examination so that you can apply accurately that so before the last date.

[Eligibility for CSIR UGC NET]

 

M.Sc or equivalent degree/ Integrated BS-MS/BS-4 years/BE/BTech/BPharma/MBBS with at least 55% marks for General (UR) and OBC candidates and 50% for SC/ST, Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates.

Candidates enrolled for M.Sc or having completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination as on the closing date of online submission of application form, are also eligible to apply in the above subject under the Result Awaited (RA) category on the condition that they complete the qualifying degree with requisite percentage of marks within the validity period of two years to avail the fellowship from the effective date of award.

B.Sc(Hons) or equivalent degree holders or students enrolled in Integrated MS-PhD program with at least 55% marks for General (UR) and OBC candidates; 50% marks for SC/ST, Persons with disability (PwD) candidates are also eligible to apply. Candidates with bachelor’s degree will be eligible for CSIR fellowship only after getting registered/enrolled for PhD/Integrated PhD program within the validity period of two years.

Age Limit – Maximum 28 years as on 01-07-2017 {upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in case of SC/ST/Persons with Disability(PwD)/female applicants and 03 years in case of OBC(non creamy layer) applicants}.

For LS (NET) -There is no age limit for it.

[APPLICATION FORM]

The candidates have to deposit the examination fee at any branch of the Indian Bank across the country. The category-wise fee chart is as follows-

  • General category- Rs. 1000/-
    •  OBC/NCL category- Rs. 500/-
  •  SC/ST/PH/VH category- 250/-

[PAPER PATTERN]

There will be total 5 subjects in the CSIR UGC NET DEC 2017- Mathematical Sciences, Atmospheric, Earth, Ocean and Planetary Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and Chemical Sciences.  The examination will be held in morning session from 9 am to 12 pm and evening session from 2 PM to 5 PM. The candidates will also have to pay the penalty for wrong answer.

The question paper will be divided into 3 sections- A,B and C.

Section A- shall be common to all subjects. This part shall contain questions pertaining to General Aptitude with emphasis on logical reasoning, graphical analysis, analytical and numerical ability, quantitative comparison, series formation, puzzles etc..

Section B- shall contain subject-related conventional Multiple Choice questions (MCQs), generally covering the topics given in the syllabus.

Section C- shall contain higher value questions that may test the candidate's knowledge of scientific concepts and/or application of the scientific concepts. The questions shall be of analytical nature where a candidate is expected to apply the scientific knowledge to arrive at the solution to the given scientific problem

[PAPER MARKING]

The pattern for the Single Paper MCQ test shall be as given below:-

v  The MCQ test paper of each subject shall carry a maximum of 200 marks.

v  The exam shall be for duration of three hours.

v  The question paper shall be divided in three parts

 

Ø    Part 'A'  This part shall carry 20 questions pertaining to General Science, Quantitative Reasoning & Analysis and Research Aptitude. The candidates shall be required to answer any 15 questions. Each question shall be of two marks. The total marks allocated to this section shall be 30 out of 200.

 

Ø    Part 'B' This part shall contain 50 Multiple Choice Questions(MCQs) generally covering the topics given in the syllabus. A candidate shall be required to answer any 35 questions. Each question shall be of two marks. The total marks allocated to this section shall be 70 out of 200.

 

Ø    Part 'C' This part shall contain 75 questions that are designed to test a candidate's knowledge of scientific concepts and/or application of the scientific concepts. The questions shall be of analytical nature where a candidate is expected to apply the scientific knowledge to arrive at the solution to the given scientific problem. A candidate shall be required to answer any 25 questions. Each question shall be of four marks. The total marks allocated to this section shall be 100 out of 200.

 

Ø     Negative marking for wrong answers.

[NEGATIVE MARKING]

 

CHEMICAL SCIENCE :  There will be negative marking @25% for each wrong answer.
 

PHYSICAL SCIENCE :  There will be negative marking @25% for each wrong answer.
 

MATHEMATICAL SCIENCE :  For Part ‘A’ and ‘B’ there will be Negative marking @25% for each wrong answer. No Negative marking for Part ‘C’.
 

LIFE SCIENCE :  There will be negative marking @25% for each wrong answer.
 

EARTH SCIENCE :   For Part ‘A’ and ‘B’ there will be Negative marking @25% for each wrong answer. The Negative marking for Part ‘C’ shall be @ 33% for each wrong answer.
