 BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY (BHU)

Banaras Hindu University conducts Undergraduate and Postgraduate Entrance Tests usually during May-June for admission to various courses. Entrance Test Admission forms are issued by the office of the Controller of Examinations usually in February-March every year.

Eligibility - Bachelor's Degree under 10+2+3 pattern in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks.

 

 

Additional requirement for -

 

• B.Sc. examination should be passed with Physics and Mathematics background.
• Additional Requirement for Geophysics

 

 

Admission Process:

 

Admission to M.Sc./MCA program is made through an All India Admission Test (PET) conducted by B.H.U sometime around the month of May every year. The advertisement for the same is normally made in December - January in leading national dailies.

M.Sc. PROGRAMME IN BIOLOGY

Eligibility :
B.Sc. in any basic science discipline/B.Sc. (Agriculture/Horticulture/Fishery).

Test Pattern
The test will be extremely basic and cover topics in mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology.
There is no specified syllabus, nor do we give out sample question papers for Biology. In addition, candidates will be asked to write an essay of a maximum of 1500 words. The topic related to biology or general science will be provided on the exam form. Up to three choices will be provided for the essay topic.

A) Joint Entrance Test (JET) 2012 - For admissions to M.Sc in Botany / Zoology / Biotechnology / Microbiology

Eligibility:
All candidates should have obtained minimum of 55% marks (45% for SC/ST, 50% for OBC) passing from Universities of Rajasthan and 60% marks (for all categories) from the Universities outside the state of Rajasthan.

Examination date for JET-2012                                                – June, 2012 (tentative)

Paper Pattern -
The Entrance examination paper will consist of 225 objective type questions. The test paper will have 3 sections (Botany, Zoology, Chemistry) each with 75 questions. The candidate has to attempt 150 questions from any two sections.

Seats & Reservation – The total number of seats available in each course is 25. 

B) Entrance Test 2012 – For admission to M.Sc. in Physics

Eligibility:
Minimum qualification for candidates passing from Universities of Rajasthan in General/OBC is 55% and for SC/ST is 36% as per University rules. Candidates from other than University of Rajasthan must have obtained at least 60% marks or 1st division in B.Sc. examination.
